Tales for grown-us
'In eleven short plays the animals tell their stories, they wonder 'Who am I? Where am I going? What is life?' This is just a small list of the themes of this wonderful play. I hope that the audience will not only join us in the “bestial thinking”, but they may also see themselves the other way, ” -said the director of the play, Marina Korneva.
“Animal Stories” is a touching and funny, unusual and deep play about animals similar to people and people similar to animals. In all short stories, the actual meaning and content are thought-provoking. Don Negro, author of about 400 plays, was born in 1949 in Ohio, USA. His first play was staged over 40 years ago; since then, productions of his works have been staged in theaters around the world. In our country, the work of the author was opened by translator Victor Weber. In an interview, he noted that the play “Bestial Stories” has “the Russian soul” and “it is unlikely that any of the audience will recognize themselves in at least one of the characters.”
The premiere took place on June 10, 2017.
Performance lasts 2 hours 20 minutes (in two acts with intermission)
